Primary Science
Starting from this academic year, our school has launched the Primary Science curriculum in Primary 1 and Primary 4. The rationale of the Primary Science curriculum is“Explore with Curiosity, Learn through Applying, Innovate for Tomorrow”.
The aim is to cultivate students' scientific literacy and inspire their creativity and scientific potential. The objectives of the primary science curriculum are to enable students to:
- Develop curiosity and interest in science
- Enhance their scientific inquiry and problem-solving abilities
- Master basic scientific knowledge, scientific process skills, and general competencies
- Develop the ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills in science and related fields
- Gain a preliminary understanding of the nature of science
- Use basic scientific language to communicate ideas related to science
- Conduct reasonable analysis and reasoning based on data and logic regarding inquiry questions, and express personal viewpoints
- Begin to develop engineering thinking and practical skills
- Recognize the impact of science on society, ethics, the environment, and technology, and cultivate a responsible citizen attitude to promote personal and community health
- Foster autonomous learning abilities to become lifelong learners in science, facilitating personal development
- Prepare for continued deepening of scientific learning in secondary school and future engagement in scientific careers
Assessment Scheme:
For P.1, there are no written exams. Students’ performance will be assessed through various methods, such as observation records, practical assessments, and project studies.
For P.4, a combination of written assessments and diverse evaluation methods will be used to assess student performance.
